More details on the context that led to the death of Nofisat Adetutu Ibrahim, a staff member of the Oba branch of a commercial bank in Akure, the state capital, who was murdered by some suspected assassins on Wednesday have emerged.
Reports had circulated on August 31 about the assassination of Adetutu which was alleged to have happened on Wednesday, August 28.
The deceased, who operated the Point of Sales service was allegedly assassinated on Wednesday evening at Oke Ogba area of the capital city by two unidentified gunmen.
Information gathered had it that the deceased was a daughter of a Principal officer of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo (RUGIPO). She obtained a National Diploma (ND) in Mass Communication from the Polytechnic and the Bsc in the same discipline from Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA).
After her NYSC, Adetutu joined the banking sector where she worked based on contract-in-charge of the Point of Sale (PoS) ordering at First Bank PLC.
According to what a family source said, Adetutu’s money was not stolen by her killers — which shows that it was not a robbery case.
“A female customer who is a popular Businesswoman at Oja-Oba Akure, has been threatening Adetutu for about a week over a disagreement on the location of PoS by the First Bank PLC where she was working before her death,” the source alleged.
Leakers.ng learnt that the yet to be identified businesswoman in her argument with the deceased insisted that the bank should approve a PoS location for her at a place where there was an existing one — a request Adetutu felt contradicted the regulations of the bank prompting her to reject the woman’s request. The woman who was obviously angered by the rejection started to threaten Adetutu with death.
The deceased, Leakers.ng learnt reported the ‘threat to her life’ at a police station, but unfortunately her life was taken in the (Wednesday) evening.
The source also dismissed insinuation that she was killed by armed robbers, insisting that hired assassins took her life.
It was also gathered that the Bank Manager was aware of the disagreement between Adetutu and the businesswoman over location of PoS and also was aware of the threat to her life prior the incident.
According to Punch, the Ondo State Police Command has arrested three persons in connection with the alleged assassination of Nofisat Ibrahim.
When the Fanibi Police Station, which was handling the case was visited, it was observed that three people were in the police custody over the case.
