Our Support For Buhari Is Not Weakness – Senate

The Chief Whip of the ninth Senate, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu has stated that in cooperating with President Muhammadu Buhari deliver his promises to the people, Nigerians should not mistake it as a sign of weakness.

Addressing newsmen at his home town in Igbere Abia State, the former governor expressed the readiness of the ninth Senate to lend President Buhari the needed support in addressing issues of economy, insecurity and others.

“He has told us the members of the National Assembly in a joint meeting with him. We believe him and we are going to co-operating with him. In doing that, people should not think we are afraid. We are not afraid of anything. We are just there to make laws and stand by the laws we make” he said.

He called on Nigerians to be confident with the National Assembly, insisting that the lawmakers are not afraid of standing by the rule of law and maintaining it.

He added that President Buhari is not the kind of leader that will tell the National Assembly to disobey the law in the course of his service to Nigerians.

The Abia North Senator applauded the unity that exists among the lawmakers in the red chamber of the National Assembly, saying it is one big family where members behave like classmates.
