The immediate past Governor of Lagos State, Akinwumi Ambode, three accounts containing 9.9 billion naira has been frozen by the Economic Financial Crime Commission, EFCC.
The punch newspaper has reported earlier that former Governor, Bola Ahamed Tinubu had allegedly drag Ambode to EFCC for investigation.
In a statement released by EFCC spokesman, Tony Orilade, titled ” EFCC Secures Freezing Order on Accounts Linked to Ex- Gov.Ambode Over Alleged N9.9bn Fraud” said justice Chuka Obiozor of the Federal High Court in Ikoyi, Lagos, ordered the freezing of the accounts containing N9.9bn belonging to the state government.
The funds are said to be in First City Monument Bank with account number 5617984012, Access Bank with account number 0060949275, and Zenith Bank with account number 1011691254 respectively.
Justice Chuka Obiozor gave the order based on the information given to the EFCC.
EFCC has prayed the court to freez the accounts pending the conclusion of investigation and the arrest of the permanent secretary, Adewale Adesanya, in the Office of Chief of staff, to the immediate past Governor, Akinwumi Ambode.
