Nigerians have lashed out at the authorities of The Polytechnic, Ibadan for setting ablaze the phones of students that were caught engaging in examination malpractice.
The phones which were burnt as punishment and deterrent to students against future occurrences, sparked up criticisms from the populace who referred the actions of the authorities as archaic and uncalled for.
We can not produce, yet we are destroying!
This is a Polytechnic having engineering department which is meant to train students on the production and repair of these devices.
Why can’t they keep them in their laboratories or workshops for the electrical engineering students to work with, understand the principles and bring up ideas on how to manufacture one.”
“This is so barbaric and reeks of retrogression. What stops the school from using the phones as research apparatus and improve on the IT Research and Development of the school, why burn confiscated items of students just because they went against the rule?
the school should have been a bit more innovative in approach to this situation rather than take this ignoble path.”
