A one time house of Assembly candidate Hon. Ibebe Rufus Akpobome through a youth organization where he serves as Director General, Youth Emancipation Movement of Africa (YEMA), has called on Delta State Governor, His Excellence, Dr. Emmanuel Okowa to stop recycling old politicians in his appointment and empower the youths by appointing them youths into office in his government
Speaking through a press statement issued by YEMA and personally signed by him, the highly respected youth leader said himself and his group is dissatisfied with the appointment made so far by the state governor where only those that have served in various capacities in previous government are appointed while youths who are the leaders of tomorrow are not given room to serve and learn.
Speaking further, the group stated that, the recent appointment of the Secretary to the State Government, Chief of Staff and Senior political Advisers as well as nomination of eight commissioners and fifteen Special Advisers did not favour youths as majority of persons appointed are previous political officers holders who normally are supposed to have quit the political scene for youths to learn and contribute their quota towards the development of the state.
The group called on Gov. Okowa to ensure that youths are appointed in subsequent appointments so as to prove that truly he has their well being at heart.
The group stated that youths are the future of the state and relegating them to the back seat in appointment is a sign of retrogression that must be corrected if truly we want the growth and development of the state.
